When a Life Story Becomes a Lifeline

Some stories are not told because someone wants attention.

Some stories are told because someone else may need them to survive.

That is what stands out in Travis Richey’s story. In the clip below, Travis talks about a small financial literacy book he once left inside a prison. At the time, it may have looked like a simple resource. A little book. A small act. One attempt to help someone think differently about their future.

But that small act grew into something much bigger.

That little book eventually became Accomplished Ventures, a nonprofit reaching prisons across the country with financial literacy, communication tools, podcasts, and educational resources for people who are incarcerated.

But the most powerful part of Travis’s story is not the scale.

It is the reason behind it.

He says something in the clip that stops you for a moment:

“Nine out of ten of them are going to leave and be our neighbors.”

That is not just a statistic to him. It is a responsibility.
